Pitching Workshops 2015-2016

The Pitching Workshops conducted in conjunction with the Plymouth-Wayzata Youth Baseball Association (PWYBA) during the off-season have been a popular addition and an in-demand offering since they were first introduced a few years ago.  Session packages consistently sell out.  These offerings, developed for 3rd through 8th graders, provide a range of instruction designed to teach not only the foundational elements of pitching mechanics but also more advanced techniques and some of the strategic considerations of pitching.

The Workshop format is designed to accommodate the busy off-season schedules of baseball players and families and have been set-up so that participants can pick and choose individual workshops that match their interests and scheduling needs. After purchasing a 4-session Pitching Workshop Package on the Clinic Registration page of the Plymouth-Wayzata Youth Baseball Association (PWYBA), participants can sign-up for workshops of their choosing based on current workshop availability. The small group format (no more than 8 players per session) is designed to provide an opportunity for participants to hone their skills through individualized instruction and hands-on learning. To see a calendar listing of workshops, visit the Workshop Sign-up page.

Each pitching workshop will include time for proper warm-up, foundational instruction, and an opportunity to practice the teachings coupled with individualized attention.  Participants will throw and catch with one another.  Although not a requirement, kids are encouraged to sign-up and attend individual workshops with a buddy.  Instructors will assume catching responsibilities as needed.

Primary instructors for this year’s clinics include Chip Engdahl (former Wayzata High School All-State baseball player, Division I college pitcher, and PWYBA AAA Travel Coach) and Brent Lonson (former Division I college pitcher and PWYBA AAA Travel Coach).

If you have questions about the pitching workshops or seek a recommendation on the sessions that might be best suited for your child, feel free to contact Chip Engdahl at chip@elevateyourbaseballgame.com.
